Timescape
Architecture in the city has always been my inspiration. I find the city's towering skyline in traditional Chinese landscape paintings similar to the mountains. This leads me to work more organically; by touching and pinching the clay, I can mimic the more impressionistic gestures found in these traditional works.
The further the object is in a scattered perspective painting, the more transparent it should be. White space is significant to this way of working. The white is a reminder that less is more, giving you a chance to take a breath or giving the viewer's eyes a rest and the mind time to absorb the work.
